Lifelong Churchgoers Shocked: This Red Bible Finally Explains the Verses They Never Heard Preached. Here Are 7 Reasons Why.
Plenty of people have sat in church for decades and still run into verses they never heard preached. Read alone, there's nobody there to explain them. Nobody hands you a commentary in the pew. This daily Bible puts Dr. Charles Stanley's notes on the same page as the verses he explains. About 15 minutes a day, and in a year you've read all 66 books with a teacher beside you.
1. Dr. Charles Stanley Explains It. Right on the Page.
Next to many verses, Dr. Stanley left a note. A small arrow in the margin points to a Life Lessons box at the foot of the page, where he explains what that verse means for daily life. He served First Baptist Atlanta for over 50 years and wrote more than 70 books. Now his teaching sits on the same page as the verses he explains.
2. Stops Someone Else From Picking Your Verses.
Most of what we know from the Bible was picked for us. A sermon covers what one pastor chose. So the Bible we know ends up shaped like other people's sermons. And if you only know the verses you've been read, it's hard to tell when someone leaves one out. Here, the date does the choosing, through every book, including the ones nobody picks.
3. Every Verse in One Year. 15 Minutes a Day.
A verse-of-the-day app would take 85 years to get through the Bible. This one does it in one year. Open to the date and four short readings are already chosen: some Old Testament, a Psalm, a Proverb and some New Testament. About 15 minutes, with nothing to plan. Miss a day and you simply open to today.
4. Keeps the Verses You Love. Adds the Chapters Around Them.
The verses you love are all here, on their dates, now with the chapters around them. So when someone quotes a verse out of context, you'll know what surrounds it. Dr. Stanley called the Bible "a promise book," and a small star marks God's promises so you can find them again. It's made for people who've been in church for years and want the whole picture.
5. Proves Itself on Day One. Halfway Through by Month Six.
No need to wait for January. Day one is whatever date it arrives. Open to that page and count how many of the four readings you've ever heard preached. By month six you're halfway through the whole Bible, and much of it will have been new to you.
